In this activity from Malaysia, students work together to package dahl, or lentil stew. One student holds a funnel over a narrow plastic tube while the other student pours it into the funnel.
After the plastic tubes are filled, they are closed, then placed in the red plastic basket to distribute. These can be distributed for meals or snack, or sold to students and teachers at the school.
There are different ways to set up the task, depending on the handskills of each individual student. Working together with another student helps to encourage social interaction and cooperation, as well as communication and problem solving.
A funnel provides assistance to allow the students to be more independent.
